Star Wars: Wild Space

Season 1 Epilogue

Karnor’s defeat on Nara V signaled the end of the Warlord Period of the Lyran Sector. Where the raiders saw easy targets, they found staunch defenders and where the Empire hoped to sow chaos, they found strong bonds forged in battle.

The survivors mourned the dead and set to the long task of rebuilding.

What became of the Tyran Merchant Guild and the Brotherhood of Scavengers and Junkers?
The Tyran Merchant Guild absorbed the remains of the Brotherhood of Scavengers and Junkers into their ranks. They formed a subsidiary guild of prospectors and traders called the Prospector’s Association. Temba son of Olf assumed control of the Association. Although young, his experiences on Nova Prime taught him caution and wisdom and the Union prospered in its first years.

Olf stepped down from leadership and a general election was held. His brother Tass, unfortunately, was not able to gather enough votes to win back his seat.

What became of Lyran IV?
Ever since the end of the war, Lyran IV became a divided world. Those that fought against the warlords that returned home found their planet unrecognizable under Imperial control. The Empire rounded up veterans of the war regardless of whether the returning soldiers supported the empire or not. Today Lyran IV is safe, but at the cost of its freedom.

What became of Despair?
Despair had won its freedom from the Lyran Sector Warlords by blaster and blade. The Johari rebels, as they called themselves, set up a provisional government and set to themselves to the difficult task of rebuilding. The Johar Oligarchy declared the planet the Free Planet of Meridian. An alliance with the Prospector’s Union and the Tyran Merchant Guild was established to clear the debris from the orbit of Meridian and at the end of seven long years, the people of Meridian no longer fear what may fall from the sky.

What became of Nova Prime?
Nova Prime had suffered Almost immediately, the victors set about establishing a formal alliance between themselves with Nova Prime at the center. The foundation for the Freespace Union was laid down in the early days of the war. The first members of the Union were Nova Prime, Akselon, and the Tyran Guild, each represented by Galen Argo, Baron Enwin d’Akord, and Olf Treesinger. The Union was a combined military front against future invaders as well as an governing body to mediate conflicts between Union members.

The Stuff of Legends

The Arrival of Karnor the Bloody

Karnor’s battle meditation swept the field, causing Nova Prime’s defenders to break. Akselon’s fleet was thrown into disarray and Karnor’s berserkers began picking them apart with ease. Zosh, the ace pilot, was struck with the full force of Karnor’s psychic attack and fled the field.

The agents of Nova Prime on the surface of the planet braced themselves against the psychic attack, only to see it blunted by an unknown force. Something on the planet was barely protecting them against its effects. Chuuba and Yuri set off to discover what it was.

Jedi Knights, Lem, Ciello and Orin arrived to join Gray to combine their power to ward against Karnor the Bloody’s battle meditation by calming the fear that plagued their allies.

While the battle raged on the surface, Chuuba and Yuri delved deep into the heart of Arcology IV to discover a lost archive. The Sethrak, the lizard-like aliens who had once ruled supreme on this planet, had all been wiped out. The only remaining legacy of these lost masters was the xenosaurs, the ruins, and a broken-down AI caretaker. The Caretaker was content to leave the surface alone, but Chuuba argued with the AI, forcing it to see that it and the treasures it guarded were not safe so long as Karnor was alive. Reluctantly, the Caretaker tasked them to help reconstruct the beacons the Sethrak had used against its xenosaur servitors. The power of the beacons could be used to disrupt the mind-control aspects of Karnor’s battle meditation.

Meanwhile, the Jedi relinquished themselves to the force and the fear that swept the battlefield was halted. The defenders of Wild Space once again were in control of themselves and they began to fight back.

Zosh pulled himself together and jumped back into the fray, for Karnor did not only have his battle meditation, but the remaining Iridium Torpedoes, locked onto Nova Prime. Zosh, joined by a group of rebel pilots, in a dazzling display of starpiloting managed to blast apart the bombers, crippling his own ship as the last bomber made a suicide run on the station.

Karnor sensed the Jedi and brought the full force of his rage against them. His elite soldiers landed on Arc IV, he himself kitted out in his enormous powered armor. He cut his way through the meagre defenses. Gray left Ciello and Lem to continue the ritual and confronted Karnor alone. The warlord’s power and fury nearly broke the Jedi but Gray had the force on her side. Three sweeps of her saber sliced into the delicate machinery of Karnor’s suit, destroying the suit’s life support system. Not only was the suit his greatest weapon, its life support system was the only thing keeping his broken body alive. He toppled from his power armor, consumed by his impotent rage in the last minutes of his horrible life.

It was then that the beacons were restored. Karnor’s Berserkers, their minds restored, surrendered. A few others, pushed well beyond the bounds of sanity, fled into the night. What became of them would become a story for another time.

And so ended the Battle for Nova Prime. Prince Volkair was captured in his escape pod fleeing the burning hulk of his capital ship and made to sign an armistice which formally ended the civil war on Akselon. And for once, a peace came to this sector of Wild Space. At least for a time.

Episode 20

Call to Battle!

Our heroes arrive back on Akselon where Princess Aura was crowned Queen. By her command, the mighty fleets of Akselon stood down from their petty squabbles and joined together to sail for Nova Prime.

While they were gone, Prince Volkair made his move. A planetary cannon was secretly unearthed by Volkair’s agents and brought to bear against the unsuspecting space station. Nova Prime’s defenders sprung into action and flew down to the surface, only to be ambushed and scattered by Volkair’s forces, and a deadly web of planetary defense lasers.

Zosh, the reckless commander that he was, pulled his companions away from Akselon, leaving the generals and queens to plan for battle. By guile, they posed as a late arrival to Prince Akselon’s invading fleet. By strange coincidence, Chuba’s cousin, Jakuul had joined with Volkair as a trader. They stole his ship and flew down to the surface where they met up with their allies.

The Battle for Nara IV

Before the Battle
Zosh and F1-NK gathered the scattered troops of the First Legion and discovered that the remnants of Red Squadron had been captured and put into a prison camp near Arc-4, right where the planetary cannon was stationed.

Chuuba and Gray set to work convincing the Silentium to join the fight.. They were reluctant, given that they were a peaceful species. However, with the urging of the Silentium Terminal nicknamed Scarface, the Silentium came out of hiding to take a stand for their new homeland.

A new ally appeared, the last researcher of the Republic Expedition Force that had become completely absorbed in his work on the Nara IV. He had discovered a way to control the Xenosaurs that roamed the planet. Certain high frequency sounds used in a key sequence could compel the creatures into obedience. Dr. Yuri helped the duros researcher Dr. Talath Kon (henceforth known as Dr. Bones because of his bone mask) complete his research and created a holo-recording of various commands Dr. Bones could use.

During the Battle
The Silentium Ship drifted over the Prison Camp in total silence and nearly invisible under its cloaking device. It blasted apart the towers and the first legion descended to the surface to free their comrades.

While the Silentium and First Legion attacked the Prison Camp, the Xenosaurs rampaged through the Arc 4 fortress.

During the attack, the Enemy General, fleeing from the Xenosaur attack, was captured by the agents of Nova Prime.

While the fort was being attacked, attacked, reinforcements arrived and damaged the silentium mothership, forcing it to flee the field.

The planetary defense laser was commandeered by the Agents and turned against Prince Volkair’s fleet. The tide turned against Volkair as the combined Akselon and Tyran Guild fleets defeated the traitorous prince.

The Arrival of Karnor the Bloody
Just as victory was in sight and Volkair’s fleet broke and scattered from the field, a strange war cry screamed across all channels. The power of the darkside washed over the battlefield, sending brave soldiers cowering in terror. Karnor the Bloody and his Berserkers had arrived.
